After a successful commencement of our Mentorship Program in 2024, we wish to start a new cycle in 2025 - this time with more mentor opportunities and connections for mentees! In 2024, we piloted our program with our mentor list consisting of our Board Members only, but this year's cycle we want to open it up to ALL members. We hope that this change will allow more connections between mentor and mentee throughout Canada.
What is the CWEC Mentorship Program?
The mentorship program is built to connect women in eye care across Canada. CWEC wants to be the catalyst for members to engage with women in leadership and aid them in becoming leaders themselves.
Why Join the Mentorship Program?
- Mentees will have opportunities for personal growth, career planning and networking.
- Mentors will give back to our field by sharing their insights and building meaningful connections that guide women towards leadership roles.
- Both mentors and mentees become part of a strong community of support.
How to become a Mentor:
- Requirements: optometrist, ophthalmologist
- Complete a short form introducing yourself and your goals as a mentor HERE
- Due date for submission: FRIDAY, AUGUST 1ST, 2025 AT NOON PST
- Mentors will receive an email regarding acceptance and further steps in the pairing process
How to become a Mentee:
- Requirements: optometry student, optometrist, ophthalmologist
- Stay tuned for the finalized mentee list here and/or through email
- Complete a short form introducing yourself, your goals as a mentee, and your preferred Mentor(s)
- We will pair you according to your application

What happens if I was a part of the 2024 Mentorship Program?
- You can still continue to connect with your existing mentor - there's no expiry on connection!
- You may re-apply per cycle and be paired with a new mentor
